Physical activity: Training for pharmacists in Oldham & Rochdale

Pharmacists in Oldham and Rochdale are invited to attend peer-led clinical training to support them in helping patients become more physically active.

Public Health England, in partnership with local public health leads, are offering free, locally-tailored, peer-to-peer training sessions for pharmacists, doctors, nurses and other interested healthcare professionals in primary and secondary care. The sessions are delivered by a PHE-trained healthcare professional facilitator, and will help you promote local services and referral routes including Oldham Health Checks.

Content:

  • The training will be a practical, interactive session based on the latest national and international data, research and evidence.
  • It will comprise 2.5 hours of CPD material shown to increase clinicians’ understanding, confidence and expertise for clinical practice, along with the local physical activity offer.
  • The training will form the basis of further CPD opportunities including motivational interviewing / coaching to encourage healthy lifestyle behaviour change, with strong connections to improving emotional health and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Refreshments will be provided.

Training dates and timings:

All sessions will be held in the Lees Suite at The Civic Centre, Oldham.

  • Wednesday 4th July – 9:30am-12pm
  • Wednesday 4th July – 1pm-3:30pm
  • Monday 16th July – 9:30am-12pm
  • Monday 16th July – 1pm-3:30pm
  • Friday 10th August – 9:30am-12pm
  • Friday 10th August – 1pm-3:30pm

Note: Public Health England require a minimum number of booked participants per session. Participants may be offered alternative sessions, where there are insufficient numbers to run their preferred session.
