Community Pharmacy BLMK & Northants is the LPC that represents all Community Pharmacy Contractors in Beds, Luton, Milton Keynes Northamptonshire. We work with the NHS and Local Authorities, to negotiate pharmacy services and support integrated delivery of healthcare services in our area. The Community pharmacy technician: advancing your role programme is open to community pharmacy technicians. This is a fully funded course that helps community pharmacy technicians develop the skills and confidence to deliver effective clinical services in community pharmacy.
Pharmacy First is a new advanced service which will launch on 31 January 2024 (subject to digital systems being in place to support these services). The service will include seven new clinical pathways as well as urgent repeat medicine supply and referrals for minor illness which will replace the Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS). The Pharmacy Contraception is an advanced service that started on 24 April 2023 allowing the on-going supply of oral contraception (OC) from community pharmacies. From 1st December 2023, the service will include both initiation and on-going supply of OC. Further information can be found on the CPE website.
The Hypertension case-finding service is an advanced service which commenced on 1 October 2021. From 1 December 2023, the service can be provided by suitably trained and competent pharmacy staff; previously, only pharmacists and pharmacy technicians could provide the service.
