LPC Support Seminar- Negotiation Skills 2013

Monday, 7 October, 2013 10am to 4pm
Other dates available - see below

Wednesday 2nd October in Leeds & Monday 7th October in London.

The ability to negotiate on behalf of pharmacy contractors is a skill for every LPC member and officer. In the new NHS and commissioning environment, negotiation skills are vital to position effectively the LPC and community pharmacy. Discussions with groups of GPs, local authorities, and other new commissioning bodies all need to call on negotiating skills to make sure the value of pharmacy is recognised and community pharmacy services can flourish in a competitive commissioning environment.

A precursor for many negotiations is the need to sell in a proposal: the other party isn’t going to want to negotiate detail if the LPC hasn’t sold in the need for a service and its delivery through community pharmacy.

As part of good governance LPCs must ensure that its officers and members have necessary training and this LPC Support seminar from PSNC is designed to equip delegates with an introduction to selling, and the key skills for successful negotiations.

Who should attend?

Negotiating skills is a regular feature of PSNCs training programme and is aimed at new LPC members and officers; it’s also ideal for longer standing members who haven’t received negotiating skills training or are looking to refresh and sharpen up skills or  get some new ideas and approaches. It’s also a great opportunity to network with other LPC colleagues.

What the day will cover

This one day seminar is designed for the needs of LPC and the negotiating situations they will experience:

Seminar leader

The workshop is led by Phil Parry, a trainer who will be familiar to delegates who have attended PSNC training on Chairing and Meeting skills and Presentation skills. Phil also led  previous PSNC  Negotiation skills training and  consistently achieves top feedback from LPC delegates and has a good understanding of the needs of LPCs and the environment in which they operate.
