PSNC Training Event – Media Skills Training – now open for booking

Following the recent Government announcements there is growing media interest in community pharmacy and this is likely to intensify as the campaign to support community pharmacy gets into full swing.

As LPCs are very likely to be contacted by the media about the threats to community pharmacy and patients we are repeating PSNC’s media training for LPCs in the next few weeks; this is to help LPCs, that haven’t been on the course, know how to respond to the media and use the media proactively.

The media training, which will be held in three centres across the country, will give LPC members a better understanding of how the media works, getting the right facts and key messages for different audiences, how to prepare for and handle interviews with local radio and questions from local newspapers, tips, dealing with difficult questions and the traps to avoid. The day will also include proactive media work including preparing press releases and how to approach local newspapers and radio.

The focus for the day will how to respond to, and create, media interest related to the recent funding announcements. The training will be led by two experienced media experts from leading communications agency Luther Pendragon.

If your LPC doesn’t have a media trained person or if it has been a while since the training, PSNC strongly recommends this course, particularly for the expert guidance on responding to the media when contacted about the current threats to community pharmacy.

This will be a small group so that attendees can have more individual support – early booking is therefore advised. Further dates will be added if there is a demand.
