Antibiotic Guardian campaign returns for 2017

Community pharmacy teams are being invited to participate in European Antibiotics Awareness Day (EAAD), World Antibiotic Awareness Week (WAAW) and the Antibiotic Guardian campaign 2017.

Dates for these awareness campaigns are:

  • EAAD – 18th November 2017; and
  • WAAW – 13th-19th November 2017.

Evaluation of the 2016 Antibiotic Guardian campaign highlighted that it was an effective way of increasing knowledge and changing behaviour (self-reported) particularly among members of public.

Public Health England (PHE) is encouraging pharmacy teams to:

PHE has produced resources to support local and social media campaigns, which are available to download from GOV.UK. PHE has also produced a resources toolkit for healthcare professionals in England to support the EAAD and Antibiotic Guardian campaigns. The toolkit contains resources for community pharmacy teams to plan local activities, which include posters and leaflets.

Healthy Living Pharmacy teams may wish to host a health awareness event/campaign on antibiotic resistance as part of their ongoing health promotion activities.
