Community Pharmacy Assurance Framework (CPAF) full questionnaire

Community Pharmacy Assurance Framework (CPAF) full questionnaire

October 10, 2017

Pharmacy contractors are reminded that in the upcoming weeks, some community pharmacies in England will be invited to complete the full CPAF questionnaire. Some pharmacies are more likely to be asked to complete the full CPAF questionnaire taking into account factors and sources of information such as for example, non-completion of CPAF screening questionnaire and where there are concerns relating to patient safety. The full questionnaire will be available for selected pharmacies to complete from Wednesday 1 November to Sunday 3 December 2017.

Contractors invited to complete the full CPAF questionnaire and who would like the support of the LPC are advised to contact the LPC for support. In order to safeguard and maintain confidentiality, NHS England will not routinely inform LPCs of the fact that contractors have been asked to complete the full CPAF questionnaire.

There is nothing to prevent an NHS England team having a discussion with the LPC about full CPAF arrangements and the reasons why they are being issued, and cases can be discussed in general terms without disclosing the identity of the contractors concerned.

In December 2017, NHS England aim to decide which pharmacies will be visited for contract monitoring purposes – it may be that NHS England decide not to visit a pharmacy following their in-depth response to the full CPAF questionnaire. Once pharmacies have been selected then arrangements will be made for those visits to take place in 2018.
