CPPE Corner: Mental health e-course beginning January 2018

January 11, 2018

An e-course on mental health is now available from the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE). We spoke to Anne Cole, CPPE Regional Manager for the South West of England, to find out more.

We are pleased to announce the beginning of our tutor-supported Mental health e-course. This eight-week course begins on Monday 8th January*, and is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to support people with mental health conditions that you encounter in your practice.

As a pharmacy professional, you have a key role to play in supporting those living with mental health conditions. If you want to feel more confident in supporting people with mental health conditions, learn more about common mental health conditions and how they are managed, and explore new ways to improve outcomes for people using a person-centred approach, then this e-course can help you achieve this.

Through the Mental health e-course you will be set a series of activities to improve your knowledge of mental health conditions, and use this knowledge to support people in your practice. As this is a live course, there will also be opportunities to take part in discussion forums with your colleagues.

Following an introduction to mental health, the course will concentrate on depression, anxiety disorders and insomnia, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, older people with dementia and children and adolescents. The e-course will then conclude by looking at supporting people with mental health conditions across all care settings.

For more information and a weekly summary of the course you can download a leaflet about the Mental health e-course.

Book a place via the CPPE website (once you have booked a place you will be sent a link to register with the e-course).

*You can register on the course for up to two weeks after the start date, with registration closing on 22nd January.
