IT group considers next steps for contract IT at September meeting

September 14, 2020

The Community Pharmacy IT Group (CP ITG) met virtually on 3rd September 2020, to discuss recent and future IT developments. Immediate priorities identified by the group included supporting further roll-out of Real Time Exemption Checking, learning from the experiences of recent pharmacy use of video consultation systems during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic and preparing IT to fulfil the ambition of the 5-year Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework.

The other agenda items included:

  • The practicalities of trying to go paperless in the dispensing process;
  • Seeking ongoing inclusion of Additional Information in NHS Summary Care Records, following the pandemic;
  • Encouraging more pharmacies to access Local Health and Care Records; and
  • EPS, NHSmail and app developments.

PSNC provides the Group’s secretariat and it has members drawn from PSNCNPARPSCCA and AIMp. Other individuals and organisations also take part in the group’s meetings and work, including pharmacy contractors, IT system suppliers and NHS organisations.

Further information about the group, and its work is available within the newly published CP ITG pharmacy IT quarterly round-up and on the CP ITG webpage.
