Over 8,000 new Healthy Living Pharmacies registered

December 16, 2017

In Public Health England’s latest Healthy Living Pharmacy (HLP) newsletter, it has announced that over 8,300 pharmacies have progressed through the profession-led self-assessment process and registered with the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) to attain Level 1 HLP status.

Commenting on this announcement, Alastair Buxton, Director of NHS Services at PSNC said:

“The majority of pharmacies in England have now become level 1 HLPs and this fantastic achievement follows an enormous amount of hard work by pharmacy teams. This level of engagement by community pharmacy teams demonstrates their commitment to playing a major role in addressing health inequalities and improving the health of the nation.

“It also provides a clear illustration of the ability of community pharmacies to develop their health and care services, so the pharmacy network can play its part in achieving the population health goals of the NHS.”

The winter 2017 edition of the HLP newsletter also highlights recent PHE publications, campaigns and training sessions relating to public health issues that community pharmacy teams may wish to take part in.

PHE would like to hear from HLP teams about any innovative delivery models or challenges experienced on the frontline. If you have any feedback, suggestions or would like to be involved in an upcoming HLP newsletter or event please send an email to hlpnewsletter@phe.gov.uk.
