Pharmacy teams ace last year’s flu vaccination total in less than eight weeks!

October 26, 2016

Pharmacy teams have now surpassed the total number of flu vaccinations delivered during last year in less than eight weeks.

Last year the total number of vaccines administered in community pharmacies under the national Flu Vaccination Service was 595,467. Data received this morning from PharmOutcomes and Sonar Informatics has confirmed that pharmacy teams have now hit the 600,000 mark, although the total number of vaccinations administered will be even higher as some pharmacy teams are not using the electronic systems to record administration of vaccines.

PSNC Director of NHS Services Alastair Buxton said:

“These figures show that pharmacy teams have really hit the ground running and the success is a testament to the hard work that everyone involved has put in, to build on the success of last year’s national Flu Vaccination Service.

More patients are showing that they value the convenience and accessibility of being able to have a flu vaccination administered in a community pharmacy.

This is a fantastic result, and I look forward to seeing the numbers continue to grow over the coming months.”
