Reminder on whistleblowing – action required

Community pharmacy contractors are reminded that they should review and update existing whistleblowing policies and procedures by the end of September 2017.

As part of the review, contractors have to name an individual as the Freedom to Speak Up Guardian who can ensure that policies are in place and that staff know who to contact if they have a concern; this person must be independent of management within the pharmacy and not the direct employer.

PSNC has updated its briefing on whistleblowing which now includes a template whistleblowing policy, if required, and guidance on the Freedom to Speak Up Guardian.
