Requirement to submit NMS quarterly information postponed

Community pharmacy contractors are not required to submit their completed New Medicine Service (NMS) summary data to the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) for July-September 2021 as this requirement has been postponed for this quarter.
In August, PSNC advised that this requirement, which was suspended during the pandemic, had been re-instated. However, following discussions with PSNC, NHS England and NHS Improvement has today advised in an email from NHSE&I regional teams to contractors that this requirement will now not be reinstated until Quarter 3 (October-December 2021). This follows concerns that due to the changes to the eligible NMS groups from 1st September 2021, there would be mixed reporting of data for the quarter, which could cause complications for contractors.
Therefore, contractors will not need to submit quarterly data until January 2022, when they will be required to submit data within 10 working days from the last day of December 2021; PSNC will issue a reminder to contractors nearer this deadline.
