In an open letter to PSNC sent on 17th December 2015, the government announced proposals to reduce funding for community pharmacy in 2016/17 by £170m. The decision to publish the letter was unprecedented.

Throughout 2016, PSNC worked with the other national pharmacy organisations to lead a sector campaign against the funding cuts. This led to much Parliamentary and media interest in community pharmacy, as well as a petition signed by more than 2 million people. In October 2016, the Government imposed a community pharmacy funding reduction, along with other changes including the introduction of a Quality Payments scheme.

This page brings together information and resources that were published throughout the 2016 campaign for community pharmacy, including guidance for LPCs and contractors. Some of this information may remain relevant as we continue to campaign for community pharmacy, but you can access our latest campaigning information and resources at: psnc.org.uk/campaign
