Forthcoming events 2018

LPC members days – various locations, dates in April and May
Updated for 2018, LPC members days are ideal for new LPC members /staff and those wanting an update and refresher.

Preparing Bids and Business Cases – various locations, June
With change comes new opportunities for community pharmacy services. To help community pharmacy navigate new structures such as Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships (STPs), Integrated Care Systems and Accountable Care Organisations, and prepare bids and business cases fit for the new commissioning environment, PSNC is running workshops for LPCs, pharmacy contractors and provider companies.

National meeting of LPC Treasurers 2018  – London, 14th June
This event is for all LPC treasurers to share ideas, resources and good practice; receive updates and information from finance professionals; and network with LPC treasurers from across the country.

PSNC Leadership Academy – London, 12th July
Bringing together experienced LPC officers, members and staff, all recognised as leaders in their LPC work: the LPC Leaders Forum is for LPC leaders who have something to contribute; who want to listen to, learn from and work with other LPC leaders from across the country.

LPC Conference 2018 – Birmingham, 26th September
The annual conference of LPC representatives, starting at 10.30am.

Past events 2017

National meeting of LPC representatives – London, 21st March
Formally the national meeting of LPC Chairs and Chief Officers, this event now gives the flexibility for LPCs to send any two LPC members/officers.

LPC Conference 2017 – 1st November 2017 – Manchester

The annual meeting of LPC representatives is an event when all LPCs meet to discuss current issues affecting their contractors, make representations to PSNC on their behalf and input into the PSNC planning process.

LPC Chairs and Chief Officers Meeting – 31st October 2017 – Manchester

The purpose of this meeting is for PSNC CEO Sue Sharpe and the policy team to give confidential updates on current issues.

PSNC Leadership Academy – 27th September 2017 – London

This is an excellent chance for LPC leaders, movers and shakers to share good practice and access peer support; a day for LPC leaders to work together on LPC strategic planning; a day to enhance leadership skills; a day for LPC leaders to identify and action plan common LPC challenges; a day to enjoy with other LPC leaders from across the country.

Media skills training – 29th June 2017

Our popular media training was led by two experienced media experts from Luther Pendragon.

How to be an effective Coach and Mentor30th June (Wakefield) and 4th July (London)

Many LPCs tell us that one of the most effective ways to support contractors is face to face. This coaching and mentoring skills session can form a key part of your toolkit for helping them cope with the increasing pressures and constant change.

Past events 2016

LPC Support Training – Financial Management for LPCs – 23th November 2016 / 1st December 2016

One of the main responsibilities for LPC members is to set and manage the LPC budget to make sure that contractors are getting the best value from their levy. LPC members are directly accountable to contractors for the management of the LPC finances. To discharge this duty and as a matter of governance all LPC members must have the necessary expertise so that contractors can be assured that their levy is being managed properly. This workshop from PSNC was for LPC members and officers and covered the financial management skills and systems that apply to LPC finances.

LPC Conference 2016 – 2nd November 2016

Although the minister has said the planned cuts will not be implemented in October, there will be further announcements on the cuts and changes to the contractual framework. The day included discussions on how LPCs can engage with STPs; and how LPCs can support the delivery of the Community Pharmacy Forward View. The pharmacy minister also addressed the Conference.

LPC Chairs and Chief Officers Meeting – 1st November 2016

The purpose of this meeting was for PSNC CEO Sue Sharpe and the policy team to give confidential updates on current issues.

LPC Training – Media Skills – 18th October 2016

We ran media skills training for LPCs earlier in 2016 and had requests from LPCs to repeat the training for those that missed it due to sell-out dates. With the proposed changes to the pharmacy framework and funding still not resolved, and other pharmacy stories unexpectedly hitting the headlines, the need for LPCs to work effectively with the media continues this year and beyond.

Sustainability and Transformation Plans webinar – 10th October 2016

This webinar gave a short introduction to STPs followed by a number of LPC representatives sharing their experiences of trying to engage, both positive and negative, with those responsible for creating STPs and their key messages from this process. STPs will also be discussed at the LPC Conference so the webinar provides good background for these discussions.

Change Management – 14th September 2016 / 20th September 2016

As the NHS continues to change, LPCs need to be able to adapt to the changes and support contractors in changing times. This could include an LPC reorganisation, introducing new ways of working or helping contractors in a changing environment. This PSNC training seminar gave LPCs the essential skills to manage change both within and outside the LPC and demonstrated how supplementary skills such as coaching and mentoring can be used to guide people and organisations through a change process.

LPC Chairing and Facilitation Skills – 28th June 2016 / 7th July 2016

This PSNC seminar was for new LPC Chairs, Vice Chairs, LPC subgroup chairs and other LPC members and officers who would like to develop their chairing skills. The day was also for longer standing LPC Chairs and Vice Chairs who feel that professional training would help make their meetings more effective.

The first national meeting for LPC treasurers was to share ideas, resources and good practice; receive updates and information from finance professionals; it also gave a great opportunity to network with LPC treasurers from across the country.

PSNC Training Event – Market Entry Masterclass – 27th April 2016

A must for all LPCs members the Market Entry Master Class provides in depth training day on the market entry regulations. The day ensured that LPCs have sufficient skills and competence to advise on the regulations, deal with consultation requests, and to support existing contractors.

PSNC Training Event – Media Skills Training – 26th February 2016 / 4th March 2016 / 15th March 2016

Following the recent Government announcements, there is growing media interest in community pharmacy and this is likely to intensify as the campaign to support community pharmacy gets into full swing. LPCs are very likely to be contacted by the media and this training prepared LPCs on how best to respond to the media and use the media proactively.

Special Meeting of LPC Chairs and Chief Officers – 20th January 2016

You will be aware of the open letter sent to PSNC on December 17th. This unprecedented public announcement starts a program of discussions and negotiations that, as is stated in the letter, the government intends to complete by March 24th 2016. This meeting discussed the government’s plans, PSNC’s strategy and how LPCs can  support their contractors’ interests.

LPC Members Day 2015 – 1st December 2015

Due to demand PSNC is running its popular LPC Members Days again in November 2015. These days are suitable for new LPC members and officers as well as more experienced LPC members and Chief Officers needing an update and a refresh.

LPC Media Skills Training – 27th November 2015

The media can be your best friend or your worst enemy. On this PSNC training course you will discover how the media operates and be given the confidence to work with it. Experienced tutors will tell you how and why editors in the media decide what makes a story newsworthy. You will be put on the spot yourself and trained to give relevant and relaxed interviews with concise key messages.

The day will show you how to write effective press releases, prepare for interviews – the tips and techniques; how to prepare those key messages and get them across- whatever the question.

The day will concentrate on the media LPCs are most likely to deal with – the local press and radio -with coaching on how to handle the media successfully and where the mistakes can occur.

LPC Conference 2015 – 4th November 2015

The annual meeting of LPC representatives is an event when all LPCs meet to discuss current issues affecting their contractors, make representations to PSNC on their behalf and input into the PSNC planning process.

The format of the LPC Conference has been set by LPCs. It involves each LPC region submitting up to two topics for discussion and once all the topics have been sent in the most popular topics are discussed on the day. The outcomes arising during the discussion are voted upon and taken to the PSNC planning meeting if carried.

LPC Chairs and Secretaries Meeting – 3rd November 2015

At the LPC Secretaries and Chairs meeting in June, delegates welcomed the time to network with colleagues and said they would like further opportunities to do so.  We have therefore arranged a further meeting for LPC Secretaries and Chairs for the afternoon of 3rd November in Birmingham.

Preparing Bids and Business Cases – 7th & 20th October 2015

As LPCs continue to adapt to the changing commissioning environment being able to research and identify service needs, build and cost a business case and sell-in the business case to commissioners is essential.

PSNC Training Event – Market Entry Master Class – 30th September 2015

Last year we ran Market Entry Master Classes providing an in depth training day on the new market entry regulations, in particular PNAs. We have received several requests from LPCs to repeat this training for those that missed it last year and for new LPC members and officers, so we will be running this again on 30th September in Coventry.

LPC Website Administration – 17th September 2015

We are running our LPC website administration workshop for LPC websites on the PSNC portal. The workshop is designed for those who already have a basic understanding of how to maintain the portal website.

Annual Meeting of LPC Chairs & Secretaries – 9th June 2015

The LPC Chairs and Chief Officers meeting is a national meeting in London. It is a closed meeting and the press will not be present. There will be a briefing for LPCs from PSNC on current issues. The agenda will also include the latest  information on provider vehicles, commissioning  and LPC ways of working with contributions from LPCs to share good practice.

HR Masterclass – Employment Law and Personnel Management – 17th March 2015 & 24th March 2015

A one day seminar looking at the main areas of employment law and personnel management LPC members are likely to face during their time on the committee. Human Resources (HR) is notoriously challenging with the law frequently changing. Getting it wrong can be expensive and a massive drain on LPC time.

PharmOutcomes training dates February and March 2015 

The Spring PharmOutcomes training dates have now been confirmed – see link. Supporting Commissioners and LPC leads to fully understand the system functionality these full day sessions are free of charge to attend and lunch will be provided. This training will take place across England starting on 10th February.
