Secretary of State Directions

The Directions provide the legal basis for the provision of Advanced Services. Amendments to the Pharmaceutical Services (Advanced and Enhanced Services) (England) Directions 2013 were made and signed on 29th August 2017.

PSNC has produced a consolidation of the Secretary of State’s Directions to the 1st September 2017.

Patient Group Direction (PGD)

The national Patient Group Direction (PGD) provides the legal mechanism for administration of flu vaccination under the service; it should not be used for any other purpose. This PGD has been formally authorised by NHS England as the commissioner of the Advanced Service.

The authorisation is limited to those patient groups defined in Annex A of the service specification (see above) and who are over 18 years of age.
