Aims and objectives of the Service

  • Contribution to the reduction in the rate of alcohol related hospital admissions.
  • Raising public awareness relating to lower risk levels of alcohol consumption by screening using the Alcohol Screening tool (AUDIT Appendix 1.)
  • Reducing alcohol consumption of those individuals drinking at hazardous and harmful
    levels by providing brief advice.
  • Improving identification and referral to specialised treatment of those individuals with
    alcohol dependence and harmful drinkers who require extended brief advice.
  • Contribute to data collection on alcohol related harm.
