Services Database Chlamydia Screening & Treatment (Rochdale Area)

Service ID

60896

Description

The pharmacy team will opportunistically offer chlamydia screening to sexually active 15 – 24 year olds, at least annually or following a change of partner within pharmacies located in the
Rochdale Borough.

In addition, the service provider will offer treatment for these clients who have positive results. This will contribute to local efforts to prevent and control transmission through prompt detection and treatment. In addition, the pharmacist will offer treatment to the partners of clients who have had a positive result.

The chlamydia screening service involves provision of sexual health advice and leaflets, explaining the nature of the service and the supply of a urine specimen container for return, by the client, to RUClear via a postal pack. When the sample is positive clients may be offered antibiotic treatment in accordance with the requirements of a Patient Group Direction (PGD).

This service is available to clients aged between 15 and 24 years inclusive, and partners of positive clients of any age group.
