Description
Pharmacy contractors will dispense sterile injecting equipment to injecting drug users and receive used injecting equipment in return for safe disposal. Pharmacy contractors will provide injecting related harm reduction advice and signpost to more specialist harm reduction services and/or treatment services as required.

The pharmacist is encouraged to order and complete as soon as possible the latest CPPE course (presently ‘Drug Use and Misuse Pharmacist version’) prior to signing up to the service.
Pharmacy technicians involved in providing the service may wish to complete the CPPE course 'Substance use and misuse: fundamentals and practicalities for the pharmacy technician'.
