Description

Emergency hormonal contraception (EHC) can be offered free of charge to clients aged 13-24 years of age. Levonorgestrel can be supplied under Patient Group Direction (PGD).

A free pregnancy test should be offered to the patient if their period is overdue.

Training

The pharmacist must complete the CPPE distance learning packs in:

  • Emergency Contraception Open Learning Programme;
  • Safeguarding Children Open Learning Programme; and
  • Attend an EHC training event organised by the Commissioner/CPPE.

The pharmacist will be expected to attend at least one ongoing training event each year if required to do so to maintain accreditation for NHS Wakefield District.
