Services Database Pharmacy First Minor Ailments Service (Southwark CCG Area)

The pharmacy will provide verbal and printed advice and support to people on the management of minor ailments, including where necessary, the supply of medicines for the treatment of the minor ailment, for those people who would have otherwise gone to their GP for a prescription or presented at their local emergency department for specific conditions.

Where appropriate the pharmacy may provide no more than two medicines from the formulary, supported by advice on its use, to the person to help manage the minor ailment. 

All medicines currently included in the scheme are available for sale through pharmacies and hence required competence falls within essential service specifications of the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework.
