Services Database Seasonal Ailment Scheme (South Tees Area)

Service ID

43906

Description

Patients were encouraged to present to a community pharmacy instead of a GP practice/Walk-in Centre/Minor Injuries Unit/A&E in order to receive advice and treatment (where appropriate) for a limited range of ailments e.g. sore throat, headache, etc. The pharmacy provided advice (including printed information) and support to people on the management of seasonal ailments. For a defined list of seasonal ailments, treatment (when clinically appropriate) was recommended for patients who had been referred from or would otherwise go on to consult a GP or other urgent care provider in order to access medication. Medication considered necessary was provided free of charge.
