Description
This is a bundled sexual health service providing emergency hormonal contraception (EHC) and chlamydia screening and treatment under relevant PGDs.
Emergency hormonal contraception (EHC):
The pharmacy must be able to supply emergency contraception during opening hours of the pharmacy on at least four days of the week, one of which will preferably be a Saturday.
Chlamydia Screening:
- Men and women with laboratory confirmed asymptomatic genital chlamydia trachomatis infection; and
- Sexual contacts of the above who present for treatment (NB. Contacts must present in person in order to be treated under this PGD)
Chlamydia Treatment:
Medicines to be administered and/or supplied under this PGD include:
- azithromycin;
- doxycycline; or
- erythromycin

Training
Before being authorised to use the PGD, the pharmacist must attend an appropriate training session and complete the accreditation criteria or have completed the latest editions of three CPPE courses and e-assessments:
- sexual Health;
- safeguarding children & vulnerable adults;
- Patient Group Directions; and
- EHC
