Description

This service involves providing one to one support and advice for clients who wish to stop smoking and facilitating access to appropriate smoking cessation products.
The support will take the form of one to one private consultations with the client.  The initial consultation is expected to last for approximately 30 minutes. Following this there will be weekly follow up consultations with the client lasting around 15 minutes up to the four week status review appointment.  Thereafter support should be provided on a fortnightly basis for up to a maximum of 12 weeks.  However informal support should be ongoing
Community pharmacies who wish to provide this service must also successfully apply to provide the NRT Voucher scheme for which there is a separate specification. There is also a separate optional service for provision of Varenicline (Champix) under a Patient Group Direction (PGD).
