Services Database Urgent Repeat Medication Supply Service (6 LPCs Involved)

The purpose of the Community Pharmacy Urgent Repeat Medications Supply Service (URMS) is to ensure that patients can access an urgent supply of their regular prescription medicines where they are unable to obtain a prescription before they need to take their next dose. The service may be needed because the patient has run out of a medicine, or because they have lost or damaged their medicines, or because they have left home without them. The aim of this service is to relieve pressure on urgent and emergency care services.
Any patients registered to a GP practice within England who present face-to-face (in person or via their carer/guardian) to an accredited pharmacy listed within the West Midlands at any time of the day having been referred via NHS 111 or out of hours only where referral is via an urgent care/walk-in centre or A&E. Out of hours for the purpose of this service is as follows:
- Monday to Friday BEFORE 8:30am and AFTER 6pm
- Saturday and Sunday ANYTIME
- National Bank/Public Holidays ANYTIME
A £10 supply charge should be collected unless the patient is exempt in accordance with the NHS charges for Drugs and Appliances Regulations.
