Our Director of NHS Services, Alastair Buxton, said:

The scarcity of Designated Prescribing Practitioners available to community pharmacists wanting to train as an Independent Prescriber is one of the key barriers to increasing the number of prescribers, so this is a welcome development. However, the time of pharmacists acting as DPPs also needs to be funded and this needs to be addressed by NHS England if the sector is going to be able to significantly increase the number of IPs able to provide care to patients.”
