Technical requirements for EPS and NHS IT

Pharmacy and prescribing system suppliers need to align with minimum requirements (e.g. EPS specifications). These set out what suppliers must do, what they should do, and what they can do. Suppliers may also innovate beyond what is specified within requirements based on user requests. This page sets out more about specs and includes links to them.

About supplier spec usage

There is great flexibility for suppliers to continue developing their systems to support their pharmacy clients and to enable suppliers to compete with their innovations.

System variation: PSNC receives reports that there can be variation amongst suppliers e.g. the usability and ‘clickability’ of the system and interface. It is essential that you engage with your supplier to ensure your system meets your needs.
