EY Survey for NPA Members – Impacts of current funding

May 28, 2020

NPA have asked LPCs to share and promote an initiative by global consultancy firm EY to the Independents who are NPA members on your local contractor footprint.

Please share the information below via your normal communication channels to contractors. A helpful video has also been produced to help complete the survey. Your kind support would augment the extensive promotion we are doing with our Members too.

The survey should be completed within an Excel spreadsheet which can be downloaded from our webpage below which also contains a checklist identifying the information sources that you will need in order to respond.

EY has been commissioned by the NPA to investigate the financial position of the independent community pharmacy sector and inform the first annual review of funding in England under the five-year contractual settlement.

We have asked EY to conduct an economic impact assessment of the funding and policy framework in England. An expert health economic team from EY will assess the robustness of the pharmacy market and consider how far restricted funding and the broader economic environment may impact on efforts to achieve NHS objectives.

It is crucial to our ability to influence government that we get a signiticant response to this data request. Detailed information is required to complete this survey, and we know that responding will be a further challenge for our members at an incredibly difficult time. But we believe that this independent and robust investigation is the best oppotunity to demonstrate to government how it can get the health outcomes it is seeking whilst at the same time benefiting from a strong, vibrant and financially sustainable community pharmacy sector.

Ministers and NHS officials say they want community pharmacies to be the first port of call for common illnesses, to help people stay well, to take on more clinical services and to relieve pressure on other parts of the system. We believe that this can only be achieved on a sustainable basis if resource match the level of ambition. Therefore, we hope they will welcome this economic study as a serious contribution to the evidence base that underpins the development of health & social care policy.

Please return completed survey forms to EYsurvey@npa.co.uk by 31st May. If you have any queries or require support completing the form, please send an email to this address including contact information and brief details of your query, and a member of NPA staff will get in touch with you as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can call the NPA on 07940408334.

We take the privacy of your data very seriously. Data collection and processing will be in accordance with the NPA’s data protection policy. Responses will be kept confidential and only aggregated data will be published.
