Quality Payments: Do you have editing rights for your NHS Choices profile?

For the November review point of the Quality Payments Scheme community pharmacy contractors will be required, as part of the gateway process, to edit or validate three parts of the pharmacy’s NHS Choices profile between 00:00 on 11th September 2017 and 11:59pm on 24th November 2017.

It is now less than a month before contractors can edit or validate their NHS Choices profile to meet this gateway criterion. Contractors are therefore encouraged to ensure they have editing rights for their pharmacy’s NHS Choices profile so they are ready to edit or validate their profiles from 11th September 2017.

Contractors who have previously requested editing rights but have forgotten their password

If a contractor has forgotten their password, but has on a previous occasion requested NHS Choices editing rights for their pharmacy profile, they can request a new password on the NHS Choices website.

Contractors that do not currently have editing rights

Contractors that do not currently have NHS Choices editing rights for their pharmacy profile can apply on the NHS Choices website. Although many contractors will have applied for editing rights before the April review point, it is unknown how many will apply ahead of the November review point and contractors may experience a delay in being provided with editing rights. Contractors should therefore apply as soon as possible for editing rights to ensure these are obtained before the November review point.

Q. I updated my NHS Choices profile for the April review point of the Quality Payments Scheme and my opening times, the facilities the pharmacy provides and the services the pharmacy provides have not changed so my profile is still correct. Does that mean I meet the gateway criterion for the November review point?
No. To meet the gateway criterion for the November review point contractors need to have logged in to their NHS Choices profile and either have edited or validated the opening times, the facilities the pharmacy provides and the services the pharmacy provides during the required time period.

Contractors must validate the three sections of their profile even if their NHS Choices profile is correct otherwise they will not meet the gateway criterion and will therefore not be entitled to claim for a Quality Payment.

Q. The NHS England guidance states that I need to edit or validate my opening times, the facilities the pharmacy provides and the services the pharmacy provides on my NHS Choices profile. What if I don’t check or validate all three sections of the NHS Choices profile?
The NHS England guidance clearly states that all three sections of the NHS Choices profile need to be edited or validated to meet the quality criterion (the opening times, the facilities the pharmacy provides and the services the pharmacy provides) during the required time period. Therefore, if all three sections are not edited or validated, contractors will not meet the requirements of the gateway criterion and will not be entitled to claim for a Quality Payment.
