Primary Care Support England (PCSE) deliver various stationery for community pharmacies – including EPS tokens. Use their online portal to request tokens.

Distribution issues during 2016

Investigations during 2016 were carried out following PSNC’s raising of concerns about late or missing supplies of Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) tokens – which also included a suggestion that stocks at PCSE had been exhausted. PCSE (PCSE.enquiries@nhs.net) has confirmed that there are enough stocks of EPS tokens, although some regional order variations resulted in a backlog. The Department of Health also confirmed that the maximum order quantities was increased.

Frequently asked questions

Q. I have used the PCSE portal to order EPS dispensing tokens but their arrival has been delayed, how can I have the issue escalated?

A. In the first instance, contact PCSE (using their “contact us” form or via email to PCSE.enquiries@nhs.net or by phone 0333 014 2884) on a daily basis if you have any difficulties with EPS token slow delivery, or difficulties in registering for the online portal,   etc. Continue emailing until a response is received – keeping copies and / or a record of your emails / communications. If no response has been received within 3 working days (as stated on the PCSE website) then please copy all the emails to info@psnc.org.uk explaining the steps you have taken, and the current position e.g. “I have a supply of EPS tokens to last me for the next two days” so that the PSNC is able to escalate matters.

Q. What if I run out of EPS dispensing tokens because of a slow delivery?

A. Review your contingency token options.
