Pandemic Delivery Service: service for self-isolators extended

Following a decision by the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE&I) have today (29th June 2021) confirmed a further extension of the period of commissioning of the Pandemic Delivery Service for people who have been notified of the need to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace.
This means all pharmacies (excluding distance selling pharmacies) will be required to ensure those people who have been notified by NHS Test and Trace to self-isolate can receive their prescription medicines and appliances by home delivery during the ten-day self-isolation period, if they are unable to arrange for medicines to be picked up.
This service is only available to people during their ten-day self-isolation period and who can provide their NHS Test and Trace Account ID when requesting the service (people are provided a unique NHS Test and Trace Account ID, which is an 8-character mix of letters and numbers, when they are contacted by NHS Test and Trace). A record of the NHS Test and Trace Account ID reference number must be made and retained as part of the contractor’s delivery record.
This service will be commissioned until 23:59 on 30th September 2021.
Provision of the service to Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (CEV) patients ended on 31st March 2021, when shielding for that group of patients was paused; contractors should therefore not be submitting any claims for delivery for this group of patients.
NHSE&I has informed PSNC that some pharmacy contractors are continuing to make claims on the NHSBSA’s Manage Your Service (MYS) portal for deliveries to CEV patients. These may be erroneous claims for deliveries to self-isolating people where the claim has been entered into the wrong field in the MYS Pandemic Delivery Service claim form. From July 2021 onwards, any claims entered in the CEV field will not be processed, so it is important that contractors ensure they enter claims for delivery to self-isolating people in the correct field within MYS.
