GM LPC AGM & The future of Community Pharmacy including CPCF Roadshow
Aneet Kapoor, GMLPC Chair, welcomed the GM contractors and pharmacists who attended the AGM on Sunday 29th September. Bruce Prentice, GMLPC Treasurer, presented the accounts which showed the LPC operated within budget and ended the year with an excess of around £20,000.
Aneet then presented an overview of the achievements and challenges of the LPC over the year. Achievements include contractor visits, the training and support delivered by GM Healthcare Academy, as well as progress with CHL (provider company) with the services managed in Bury and pilot projects underway.
Aneet discussed the GMLPC Operational Review which followed Adam Irvine’s departure from the LPC in December 2018 and shared the proposed structure of the LPC employed team for 2019 onwards.
Jennie Watson, GMLPC Academy lead then presented an overview on the GM Healthcare Academy, detailing the processes used to plan and identify training requirements in GM and highlighting the inclusion of the whole pharmacy team in training events.
Fin McCaul, GMLPC & PSNC Board Member, talked about Primary Care Networks (PCN) and shared the dates of the 9 events which are taking place across GM in the next few weeks and strongly encouraged pharmacists and contractors to attend the event in the locality in which they work, highlighting the Pharmacy Quality Service (PQS) points available for PCN engagement.
Aneet and Fin shared the LPCs views on how community pharmacy should be measuring their business success, and making this fit for purpose in light of the new community pharmacy contractual arrangements. Fin shared his top tips on ensuring a contractor did not have a ‘leaky bucket’ when it comes to income and Aneet discussed the reporting tools and dashboards available from PharmOutcomes free of charge for all contractors.
The team wrapped up with an appeal to all contractors and pharmacists to fully engage with the new CPCS service as an opportunity for community pharmacy to come together and prove to the NHS our role in the urgent care agenda.
