In the event that your pharmacy needs to suspend the delivery of locally commissioned services due to closures (either planned, unplanned or partial closures) contractors are responsible for notifying the commissioner.

Emergency Hormone Contraception (EHC)

Service Specification -01/04/2019- 31/05/2021

Levonorgestrel PGD – 26/01/2019 – 25/01/2021

Please see an important update regarding the PGD for the supply of Ella One.

Trafford contractors can continue to use the existing PGD for Ulipristal Acetate for the forthcoming period until further notice.

The commissioner has provided the below update regarding the Patient Group Direction (PGD) for the supply of Ulipristal Acetate 30 milligrams Tablet;

On 16/03/2021 Trafford Council shared communications that the PGD would no longer be in place as of 12/04/2021.

I would like to retract this and confirm that the PGD for Ulipritsal Acetate can still be used.

The wording of the PGD states that it is valued: ‘For the duration of the COVID-19 lockdown measures’ – as there will still be restrictions after 12/04/2021 it can still be considered in date.

The reason for the amendment is, we are currently redeveloping new PGDs for both Ulipristal Acetate and Levonorgestrel and hope to trial a new EHC offer that includes Ulipristal Acetate in 2021/2022. While this is being developed we would like to ensure continuity of our offer.

I appreciate that this news has come close to the initial expiration date and apologise for any inconvenience.

Please see the attached letter to confirm the above Ulipristal Acetate PGD validation period 09.04.21

COVID-19 Updates

Sexual Health Services Available Trafford

GMLPC is working with Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council who have agreed ”During the current COVID-19 situation and resulting restrictions on movement, telephone consolations can be done for Emergency Hormone Contraception where it is not possible for someone to get to the pharmacy (for example, because they are self-isolating). The same process and questions should be followed over the phone in this instance. It would still be expected that vulnerable people or those who are under the age of 16 would be referred to the sexual health service.”

Urgent Eyecare Service Leaflet

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the CUES (COVID-19 Urgent Eye Care Service) was launched to support the pandemic. This service now supersedes the Minor Eye Condition Service (MECS)

The CUES is an extended version of the MECS service which allows remote consultation and uses IT capability to provide a digital service. In some areas, an Independent prescriber may be used to prescribe medicines for the patient.

For further details please refer to the service summary, available here

Where a medicine is required, Pharmacies will directly be supplying or selling (where appropriate), “Pharmacy only” (P) medicines and General Sales List (GSL) medicines, and the following POMs: chloramphenicol, cyclopentolate hydrochloride, fusidic acid and tropicamide.

In these new CUES areas, patients will be provided with a private written order for purchase items over the counter or access the Minor Ailment Service (MAS) in areas where the MAS is commissioned.
