Diabetes Research Study – ‘Prioritising Action On Diabetes In Greater Manchester: A Mixed Method’

July 22, 2021

Researchers at the University of Manchester are looking for help from community pharmacists to recruit patients with Type 2 diabetes for their latest research project. The project is being delivered as part of the Global Cities Changing Diabetes programme under the direction of Prof Peter Bower, Professor of Health Services Research in the Division of Population Health, Health Services Research & Primary Care, working together with Health Innovation Manchester, University College London, and Novo Nordisk.

The team are looking for community pharmacies across Greater Manchester to participate as patient identification sites for the research.

What does it involve?

The work involves identifying appropriate patients and inserting a study postcard into dispensing bags, supplied by the team, alerting those eligible to the study. The project hopes to recruit 60 patients across Greater Manchester and the research team are already working with some GP practices and Diabetes UK towards this.

There is a financial contribution to pharmacies for any time spent on this study. The request is only to identify potential participants from electronic records and make first contact. All subsequent contact and consent will be completed by the research team.

You can read more about the study here or for more information contact the lead researcher sarah.croke@manchester.ac.uk .
