Quality Payments: Action required to meet gateway criteria

Quality Payments: Action required to meet gateway criteria

January 23, 2019

Pharmacies that want to claim Quality Payments this February need to take urgent action to make sure they are compliant with the five gateway criteria – otherwise, you risk not being eligible to claim any Quality Payments. Our guide explains how to meet the gateway criteria.

As things stand, four in ten pharmacies in the GMLPC area (Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside & Glossop, Trafford, and Wigan) will not be able to claim Quality Payments because they are not compliant with at least one of the four gateway criteria for which we have data.

Make sure your pharmacy can claim by taking action now.

Gateway criteria 1-4: NHS website, advanced service, CPPQ & NHSmail gateway criteria:

Four in ten pharmacies in the GMLPC area are currently not compliant with at least one of these gateway criteria, as shown below:

  • NHS website – 39% of local pharmacies (245) haven’t met this requirement yet
  • NHSmail – 21% of local pharmacies (133) haven’t met this requirement yet
  • CPPQ questionnaire – 9% of local pharmacies (56) haven’t met this requirement yet
  • Advanced services – 1% of local pharmacies (7) haven’t met this requirement yet
  • Seven local pharmacies are currently non-compliant with all four of these gateway criteria. (This data was correct on 17th-18th January.)

What you need to do:

  • Find your pharmacy on the NHS BSA spreadsheet. (Scroll down to ‘Datasets for gateway criteria’ and you’ll see the excel sheet under the table.)
  • If you have a cross under any of the headings, you are not compliant with that requirement and need to act now or you will not be able to claim any Quality Payments.

Gateway criterion 5: WES IT requirements

You should now have received an email from NHS BSA informing you if your pharmacy is compliant with the WES criterion (i.e. that your IT systems meet the requirements for NHS Digital).

If you haven’t received this email, make sure you log into the SCR portal by Thursday (24th Jan) so that NHS Digital can check if your IT systems are compliant with the WES standards. You don’t need to access a patient record – just log in and go to ‘Find a Patient’.

You will then get an email from NHS BSA next week to let you know if you’re compliant.

If you have any queries, please contact the GMLPC office on 0161 228 6163 or enquiries@gmlpc.org.uk.
