Reminder: Check NHS mail for prescriptions

Reminder: Check NHS mail for prescriptions

April 15, 2021

This is a reminder to all pharmacies to check NHS mail accounts for prescriptions received via this route (i.e. GM Urgent Service – dental).

There has been a small number of reports that patients issued with a prescription via the GM Urgent Service have been turned away from pharmacies, with the pharmacy believing it hasn’t received the prescription because it didn’t come via the same system as e.g. a GP prescription.  For example GM Urgent Service prescriptions are sent to pharmacies via NHS mail when the patient has seen a dentist.

Therefore it is important that all pharmacy staff check the pharmacy’s NHS mail account if a patient presents to collect a prescription issued from the GM Urgent Service.
