Greater Manchester Dementia-Friendly Pharmacy Framework

The Greater Manchester Dementia-Friendly Pharmacy Framework was officially launched in Wigan on Wednesday 15th March 2017 by the Pharmacy LPN (Local Professional Network), Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership and Wigan Council. It is now being adopted by pharmacies across Greater Manchester.

The framework guides pharmacy teams to find out more about dementia and the small changes that could make a difference to people living in their community. With over 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK, pharmacy teams are ideally placed to support people and their carers to live well with dementia.

We have produced a ‘top tips’ guide including case studies and practical examples of what you can do to achieve compliance with each of the criteria.

How to get involved

All pharmacies across Greater Manchester are encouraged to get involved in this new initiative. The LPC will be in regular contact to offer all the support you need. You are also welcome to contact us with ideas and suggestions.

Recording and progress is via a PharmOutcomes Assessment. If you want to get involved, please log in to PharmOutcomes and do a baseline assessment and then update it regularly as you progress through the framework.
