REMINDERS: Important updates announced recently

Secretary of State’s emergency declaration and exemption for patients signing prescription backs extended. Next PNA publication date deferred and complaints return cancelled.

There were various regulatory updates last week and full details can be viewed on the PSNC website as follows:

1.  Secretary of State’s emergency declaration

The Secretary of State’s emergency declaration under the regs has been extended until 30 June 2021 – this triggers various temporary provisions including those on temporary opening hours during an emergency;

2. Exemption for a patients to sign the back of prescriptions and dispensing tokens

The exemption for a patients to sign the back of prescriptions and dispensing tokens is extended until 30 June 2021 (note that contractors need to take care claiming payment re: prescription charge exemption and its deduction – check our news article coming shortly/PSNC info for details)

3. Next PNA publication date

The next publication date by which revised PNAs must be published has been deferred again, this time by 6 months to October 2022 (and DHSC guidance on PNAs will be updated this summer).

4. Complaints return 

The complaints return for the end of this year 2020/21 is not required.
