Public Health Northants


Since April 2013 a number of commissioners have a role in commissioning services from community pharmacies. The process is led by an assessment of the health needs of a population. In Northamptonshire, the responsibility for this is taken by the Public Health & Wellbeing Directorate that is now part of Northamptonshire County Council. This Directorate is tasked with ensuring appropriate services are available to meet the needs of the Community and that associated health outcomes are established.

Northamptonshire County Council currently commission the following services from Community Pharmacy:

· Supervised consumption (through CGL, the Lead provider)

· Needle and syringe programme (through CGL, the Lead provider)

· EHC and contraceptive services including provision to supply azithromycin. The current PGD is avaialble here
