PQS 2020/21 Part 2 Infection Control/ AMS

PQS 2020/21 Part 2 Infection Control/ AMS

We have had a number of contractor queries highlighting difficulty identifying local antibiotic formularies in relation to the PQS criterion on Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS). As you will be aware, this requires all patient facing staff to have an awareness of the local antibiotic formulary.  Our local formularies to support our contractors are as follows:

Milton Keynes Formulary

Northamptonshire Formulary

The NICE/PHE Summary of antimicrobial prescribing guidance – managing common infections document is really comprehensive and covers just about all the infections commonly encountered in primary care.

It is worth remembering  the recommendations change quickly and I would therefore recommend using the national document because it will be the most up to date.
