APPG launces inquiry into the future of pharmacy

The All-Party Parliamentary Pharmacy Group (APPG) has launched an inquiry into the future of pharmacy in the wake of COVID-19, which PSNC is supporting.

The Group is seeking views from the pharmacy sector, and wider healthcare stakeholders, to inform the development of a manifesto which aims to unlock the potential of pharmacy and further improve patient outcomes.

The value of pharmacy has never been clearer than during the COVID-19 pandemic when pharmacy teams across the country showed their resilience, providing continuous care for patients in their communities, and helping to relieve pressure on the wider healthcare service at a time when the NHS was stretched to its limits.

Parliamentarians would like to hear views on how community pharmacy can support the prevention agenda, the role of the pharmacy workforce, how pharmacy can be better integrated into NHS care pathways, and examples of pharmacy best practice.

Written submissions will be accepted until 1st November 2021, after which a series of oral evidence and roundtable sessions will be held. PSNC will be submitting written evidence on behalf of the sector, but individual LPCs and contractors may like to do so as well.

If you would like to share your views on the above topics, please send your written evidence to contact@pharmacyappg.co.uk

Further details and the Terms of Reference for the inquiry are available on the APPG website.
