Community pharmacy’s pivotal role in prevention highlighted in PHE blog

July 8, 2019

Public Health England (PHE) has published a blog post, written by Gul Root, Lead public health pharmacist at PHE to outline some of the ways in which community pharmacy teams are already contributing to the public health agenda and how the roles could be further enhanced.

The blog explores community pharmacy’s role in prevention through opportunistic interventions and commissioned public health services, such as cardiovascular disease, sexual and reproductive health, mental health and vaccination.

The blog also highlights pharmacy’s accessibility, and the unique way in which community pharmacy is interwoven with people’s daily lives by being located in areas where people shop, access healthcare and enjoy leisure time.
