Contractor reminder: update to existing digital channels to meet NHS Identity guidelines

Contractor reminder: update to existing digital channels to meet NHS Identity guidelines

January 2, 2018

Community pharmacy contractors are reminded that last year, NHS England updated its guidelines on the use of the NHS Identity, which included guidance for all primary care contractors commissioned under a primary care contract, including community pharmacies.

When the revised guidelines were published, NHS England advised that implementation of the updated NHS Identity guidelines could be gradual; existing offline materials could continue to be used until they needed to be replenished or updated. Contractors, however, in line with NHS England’s advice to NHS organisations should aim to update existing digital channels, such as websites and social media accounts by January 2018.

Contractors who choose to use the NHS Identity should ensure that the revised guidance is adhered to when promoting NHS services, for example, if developing marketing materials to promote the NHS Flu Vaccination Service; the NHS Identity should not be used when promoting non-NHS (private) services.
