Contractor Update: Final December price concessions list

Contractor Update: Final December price concessions list

January 2, 2018

The Department of Health (DH) has issued the final list of concession prices for the December dispensing month.

These can be found on PSNC’s website here and they have been issued in time to be considered alongside December’s payment in the usual way.

PSNC is continuing to work to ensure that DH understands the problems and risks if pharmacies are not able to obtain medicines for patients in a timely manner, and to press for better systems to address the impact of high price rises.

PSNC Director of Pharmacy Funding Mike Dent said:

“PSNC is pleased that December’s price concessions have been finalised, although once again many are lower than we had sought.

Prices and availability of generics are continuing to cause considerable stress to contractors, who are already under massive pressure both trying to source medicines for patients and following Government cuts to funding.

We have made DH aware of the hardship the current situation is imposing on contractors, and we will continue to press for improvements and to highlight the phenomenal work being done by community pharmacy teams to ensure that patients can access the medicines they need.”
