Helen Middleton, Foundation Pharmacist Programme Delivery Lead, CPPE

The Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) is now accepting applications for the January cohort of its Foundation pharmacist programme. We spoke to Helen Middleton, Foundation Pharmacist Programme Delivery Lead at CPPE, to find out more.

Are you a provisionally registered pharmacist (PRP) working in independent and small/medium multiple community pharmacy, primary care or Health in Justice? If you are revising for your GPhC registration assessment in March, CPPE delivers a programme of learning that maps significantly to GPhC registration assessment framework, equipping PRPs with the knowledge and skills to pass, and become confident and competent pharmacists.

The Foundation pharmacist programme 2020/21 is part of HEE’s Integrated Foundation Pharmacy Programme (IFPP) and is fully funded by HEE for eligible PRPs. Through blended learning approaches combining online learning, workshops, communities in practice, assessment and work-based support, the Foundation pharmacist programme 2020/21 is one of the best ways to prepare for a future as a registered pharmacist delivering high-quality person-centred care. Each PRP is assigned a CPPE education supervisor who will provide feedback and support throughout the learning journey.

The next available cohort of the Foundation pharmacist programme 2020/21 begins in January 2021, which gives learners ample time to use the programme as a comprehensive toolkit to prepare for the GPhC registration assessment and apply learning in the workplace to develop competence and confidence in delivering high-quality pharmacy services. There will be a four-week break in the programme for all cohorts between 15th February and 21st March 2021 for final revision in advance of the registration assessment.

This year has seen an unprecedented amount of change in the pharmacy profession, and the coming months look set to present even more challenges. CPPE is dedicated to supporting PRPs through what can be one of the most intense years of development in a pharmacist’s career via the Foundation pharmacist programme 2020/21. There has never been a more important time to ensure personal development in PRPs. This programme offers guided learning that not only ensures professional growth in PRPs but works to maximise the efficiency of the whole pharmacy team.

If you are waiting for your registration assessment, or have a PRP working in your pharmacy, the Foundation pharmacy programme 2020/21 is an opportunity to find unparalleled support for your pharmacy team during this turbulent time.
