Foundation Pharmacy Technicians: Help shape future of training and development

November 25, 2019

Research led by the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK) and Health Education England (HEE) is aiming to guide the design and review of a UK-wide Foundation Pharmacy Technician Framework.

This joint project, looking across sectors to better understand the knowledge, skills, and competencies required of pharmacy technicians in the early years of their careers, will support the new qualifications based on the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Initial Education and Training Standards (2017) due to launch in February 2020.

In December 2019 current Foundation Pharmacy Technicians are invited to participate in a focus group, which forms part of the Foundation Pharmacy Technician Role Analysis. The focus group – which consists of a 60 to 90-minute conference call – is led by the Work Psychology Group (WPG), and will involve discussions around the skills used and required by newly qualified pharmacy technicians to support the development of an attributes framework. Pharmacy technicians participating in the focus group will receive a £25 Amazon gift voucher from WPG.

If you would like to be involved in this project, please register your interest by 30th November 2019. If you have any queries about the role analysis and focus groups, please contact Jessica Pickard: j.pickard@workpsychologygroup.com
