The 2021 Health Education England (HEE) Community Pharmacy Workforce Survey commenced earlier this month and contractors that have not yet completed the survey are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.

Commenting on the survey, Alastair Buxton, Director of NHS Services at PSNC said:

“PSNC encourages all pharmacy contractors to participate in the survey, as the results will help inform the future planning and funding for the development of the community pharmacy workforce across the NHS in England.

“Pharmacy contractors have highlighted to us the challenges they currently have recruiting suitably qualified staff to work in their pharmacies. Completing the survey will help quantify these issues, which will assist with tackling the issues over the longer-term.”

Alan Ryan, Director of National Transformation Programmes, Health Education England said:

“We are really keen to hear from community pharmacies as the survey will give us better insight about the size and skill set of the workforce and therefore, help us to plan our future investment in education and training more effectively.

“I would encourage pharmacies to participate. It is a great opportunity for them to play their part in shaping the future of the pharmacy workforce.”

In addition to the use by HEE and the NHS, the data from the previous workforce survey has also been used to the benefit of contractors by PSNC and LPCs in local and national negotiations on the development of community pharmacy services.

The deadline to complete the survey is 11.59pm on Friday 18th June 2021.
