Mandatory workforce survey opens today

The 2022 Community Pharmacy Workforce Survey, managed by Health Education England (HEE) has opened today.
Completion of the survey is a mandatory requirement for all pharmacy contractors.
The NHSBSA will, today, send an email to pharmacy contractors containing a link to the survey.
In some cases, e.g. Company Chemists’ Association member companies and other larger multiple pharmacy groups, head offices will complete the survey centrally. If you are not sure whether the survey will be completed centrally, please ask your head office for guidance.
The survey is open for eight weeks and must be completed by 30th November 2022.
Background to the survey
Workforce challenges are currently adversely impacting most sectors of the UK economy, but they are being particularly acutely felt within community pharmacy, with serious consequences for pharmacy contractors.
PSNC and the other national pharmacy bodies have called for improved workforce planning to be undertaken by the Government and NHS, but for this to happen, high quality workforce data for community pharmacy needs to be available. That is the reason that completion of the workforce survey is so important for the community pharmacy sector.
Commenting on the launch of the survey, Alastair Buxton, Director of NHS Services at PSNC said:
“Everybody in the sector knows that contractors are struggling to recruit and retain staff in their pharmacies and that workforce planning needs to be improved. But effective workforce planning is impossible without high quality data on the current community pharmacy workforce.
“That is why it is so important that all contractors complete the 2022 workforce survey. It will provide the data to enable the Government and NHS to better support community pharmacy workforce planning.”
The completion of the survey is a mandatory requirement, but alongside this, PSNC negotiated the removal of the requirement for contractors to undertake an annual survey of patient satisfaction.
