MHRA launch videos to raise awareness of Yellow Card Scheme

June 14, 2019

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has produced two videos which highlight the Yellow Card Scheme to patients, and community pharmacy teams are being asked to share them.

The Yellow Card Scheme is the process by which patients (and healthcare professionals) can report side effects or problems that may occur when taking medicines or using medical devices. It is a vital tool in helping the MHRA to monitor the safety of healthcare products.

As part of efforts to increase the reporting of such safety incidents, these videos have been developed to provide guidance to assist patients in completing a Yellow Card report.

The videos can be found on the MHRA’s YouTube channel:

How to report a side effect from a medicine

How to report a problem with a medical device

They are also being shared via the MHRA’s social media channels:

Twitter

Facebook

LinkedIn

Community pharmacy teams are encouraged to help raise awareness by sharing the videos amongst their own networks and online communities.
