No Smoking Day 2021

March 5, 2021

No Smoking Day is a national campaign that encourages the nation’s smokers to make a quit attempt on the second Wednesday of March each year. The day is an important opportunity to engage smokers in your local community, encouraging them to quit and access local stop smoking support.

This year’s campaign has been developed collaboratively between Action on smoking and health (ASH) and Breathe 2025 with support from Public Health England (PHE) Marketing, Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership and Fresh Smokefree North East.

No smoking day this year is on 10th March 2021. The theme this year is “quitting smoking doesn’t have to be stressful.” ASH and Breathe 2025 have created a communications toolkit which includes information about the campaign, templates for social media, emails, websites, and local PR.

Pharmacy teams can signpost smokers considering quitting, or people seeking further information, to a new range of resources on the NHS Better Health website. These resources include several free tools such as the Smokefree App, SMS and email support and the local stop smoking service search facility.

Further resources and information that pharmacy teams may wish to consider using when planning a health promotion event/campaign focusing on smoking can be found on our Holding an awareness event/campaign on smoking page.
