Pharmacy Advice Audit 2021 extended

Pharmacy Advice Audit 2021 extended

January 29, 2021

PSNC has had an exceptional response to our Pharmacy Advice Audit 2021: thank you to the pharmacies who have taken part this week. We have decided to extend the participation deadline to make sure no pharmacy misses out on the chance to submit their data.

Community pharmacy teams have been asked to take part in an audit to capture information about patients coming into pharmacies seeking informal advice. It also attempts to get a sense of how significant workload and staffing pressures are currently.

We have been increasingly concerned about the pressures that pharmacy teams are under during the COVID-19 pandemic and also about reports that general practice teams are referring patients to pharmacies for consultations informally, rather than via the agreed Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS) route.

The audit will provide a critical temperature check – the data will allow PSNC to quantify how many unfunded GP referrals are taking place, and it will tell us more about impact that COVID-19 is having on pharmacy teams and on the advice that patients are seeking from you. This will provide crucial evidence for our ongoing funding discussions with HM Government and the NHS.

Pharmacy teams now have a further week to capture information about the advice they give to their patients and local communities, and submit that data to PSNC via PharmOutcomes. Please visit for details on how to take part.

We hope to receive data from as many pharmacy teams as possible to build a strong evidence base.

Data submission

Note, PSNC has become aware of an issue where some pharmacies are currently unable to see the audit submission module on PharmOutcomes. We are working with the team at PharmOutcomes to get this resolved as quickly as possible. If you are affected, please wait until early next week to try again.
